Making Space For The New Song

It dawned on me in this last month what if doubting if there is a new, spontaneous or prophetic ‘song’ arising within any corporate worship gathering, a ‘song’ placed on a heart, inspired by Holy Spirit is a bit like doubting that the Holy Spirit speaks to individuals within the Body at corporate gatherings at all?

At times it's felt like a risk taking the microphone and acting on a potential Holy Spirit prompting to say ‘I think there is a person in here with a timely ‘song’ for the room/for the Church/for the village/town/city/county/nation’, like it could be a possible word from God that I may have wrong, but what if it’s actually a total given?

If we believe He, Holy Spirit, is deeply present, dwelling in us, resting on us, always moving, always speaking, always inspiring, always leading, ever creative, ever abundant. That He deepens gifting and anointing at every opportunity the character can take, doesn’t it seem to make total sense that as we gather as a Body in corporate worship, to practise that Greatest Commandment, be it in 3’s, 30’s, 300’s, 3000’s, 30,000’s, that within the hearts and souls in that gathering there will be both personal (yes of course) but also corporate revelation.

Worship offerings inspired by Holy Spirit intended for the whole room and through the obedient, vulnerable worship of His children we know He moves like nothing else.

New songs, prophetic songs, spontaneous songs released not just from the musicians or the worship team, but from the Body, from the family, from the collective worshippers.

The only question seems to me is whether we are willing to invite the release of the voice of the Body at our gatherings?

Whether we are willing to encourage the acts of risky worshipful obedience in our meetings and potentially give space to raw authenticity at the minor loss of planning and production?

I wonder if not only is He roaring for the David’s and the Mary’s to arise but He is calling to those in a position to release them. Those who can begin to reinstate the practice of the release of the ‘songs’, through which He’ll continue the precedent He set throughout scripture. He’ll annihilate the insurmountable enemy, break down the walls, release the shackles, throw open the prison doors, release salvation, healing, deliverance and enable peace with all our enemies.

He moves through nothing else like He moves through the praise and worship of His children.
