Starling Mumuration
Starlings have come up so many times in these last couple of weeks. Seeing them, hearing them, just the word ‘Starling’. Even as I was talking to Holy Spirit on my run just now about writing something they there flew, a group just over head and landed on a wire.
I believe these short days are training days for the significant year ahead for His worshippers, if we want to accept His training offer.
He made worshipper facilitators and worshippers to worship together like the Starlings fly. An area massively untapped in worship culture today. Perhaps we are used to directing a band, asking a drummer to build in the bridge, asking a flutist to ‘fill in a instrumental gap’, instructing a vocalist into a spontaneous song. But many of us, including myself, have only scratched the surface of what it is to follow His lead as One, as I believe they did in the tabernacle, to move TOGETHER as His worshippers give Him all the glory. To let Holy Spirit push us to the left and right like the factors that physically cause the change of direction in the Starlings. Each worshipper in the move, part of the the murmuration, through which He pulls down the strongholds, defeats the giants, releases His salvation, ambushes the army, releases the captives. He is the star, the One, no one starling can be spotted as the shining one, yet as a group they are a sight to behold. He isn’t looking for the worlds ways in His worship.
He made us to worship together, to facilitate worship together and we will need this gift and skill in 2021 more than we have ever needed it.
This is good news if you enjoy family, running with others, it’s not so great news if you are into a bit of control. This is great news if you believe your gifting and skill is only entrusted to you for the purpose of Jesus’ reward and the blessing of The Body of Christ. It’s not so good news if we believe it’s there for our own gain and success. But like I say I believe it’s an invitation from the Father, so we can choose to carry on as we know or dive deep into the clunky, refining training He has on offer for those who want to see David’s tabernacle established here on earth. For those who want to worship together like the Starlings fly.
He is raising up His 12’s ... not by might nor by power but by His Spirit. Not by organisation, or team picking but by His Spirit, not by talent spotting or recruiting but by His Spirit. The fiery worshippers and intercessors who will do anything for Him and His Greatest Commandment.
